Teaching Your Kids

About The Flow of Money

Teaching kids about money early is one of the most loving, future-shaping gifts we can give them.

Money is not something to fear, hide from, or feel ashamed of — it’s simply an energetic tool. When children understand this from the beginning, they grow up feeling confident, empowered, and at ease with money instead of tangled in stress or scarcity.

When money isn’t talked about, it quietly turns into a money shadow — unspoken beliefs like:

  • “Money causes problems”

  • “I’m bad with money”

  • “There’s never enough”

  • “Wanting money makes me greedy”

These stories don’t come from truth. They come from silence.

By teaching kids:

  • how money flows

  • how it’s earned, saved, spent, and shared

  • how to receive money with gratitude

  • how to give money with intention

…we show them that money is neutral, responsive, and available — just energy moving through their lives.

The goal isn’t to raise mini accountants.
It’s to raise humans who feel safe, capable, and calm around money.

Children who understand money as energy learn:

  • abundance instead of fear

  • choice instead of limitation

  • responsibility without pressure

  • generosity without guilt

They grow up knowing they are in relationship with money — not ruled by it.

When we normalize conversations about money, we break generational patterns and replace them with trust. And when kids trust themselves with money, they trust themselves in life.

Money doesn’t define their worth.
They do.

All of us have some sort of money shadow…for me- my money shadow is “Money is a Mystery”
I grew up in a home that never talked about money or what things cost. It seemed that money was a big mystery.

I even created a course in my “Love the Life You Live” program called “Rainmaker” to help people with their money shadows. A shadow is something that holds you back.

In the “Rainmaker” course, I teach about the different money archetypes or “shadows”.

I did not want to pass my money shadow onto my son!

One of the best systems I learned was from the multi millionaire “Harv Ecker’s Jar System”.
It is brilliant. It is a clear and easy way to think about managing money and it is fun.

Jars are the perfect way to teach kids as well. Here is the complete “Money Management Jar System” by Harv Ecker- great for anyone to learn and teach their kids.

Even better than jars, I recently found this awesome piggy bank where your child can save according to life categories and the piggy bank is clear so he/she will know how much he/she is saving!

Starting at one year, we bought a piggy bank for our son and he loves putting coins that family members give to him into the piggy bank.

We are opening a bank account for him now and are excited to watch his bank account grow through the years. Perhaps someday with compound interest he will have enough to put a down payment on his first home. We will teach him he can also have fun with money-be sure to add a “fun” category!

I plan to add articles about teaching kids other concepts about money, like money is just energy etc. I think money karma is very important to teach our kids, so that money does not hold our children back in life and they can use money in a positive, karmic way in their lives to help their own lives as well as the lives of others!
