A Story That Comes Full Circle

One of the things I love most about the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club
is how it holds memories across generations.

My husband, Jim, grew up coming here every single year with his family.
It wasn’t just a vacation for him — it was his childhood.
The kind of place where days were spent barefoot between
the tennis courts and the beach, where time didn’t matter,
and where some of his very best memories were made.

Now, years later, I get to watch that same magic unfold again
— through our son.

Michael comes to the club and immediately slips into that same rhythm of freedom.
He spends his days with his grandparents, Momo and Bo, playing along the shores of
La Jolla Shores Beach, building sandcastles, laughing in the waves,
and simply being a kid in the most natural, joyful way.

He runs the same paths his dad once ran.
Feels that same ocean breeze.
Lives that same kind of carefree childhood.

And now, he’s creating his own memories — taking tennis lessons on those classic courts, learning, playing, and growing in the very place that meant so much to Jim.

There’s something incredibly special about that — watching a place you’ve heard so much about become real again, and seeing your child fall in love with it in his own way.

It reminds me that the most meaningful family traditions aren’t complicated…

They’re simply the ones you return to, year after year.

There are beach vacations… and then there are the places that quietly become family traditions.

Tucked along the golden stretch of La Jolla Shores Beach, the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club offers something that’s becoming increasingly rare — a place where childhood feels expansive, unstructured, and free.

For mothers looking to create meaningful, memory-filled travel experiences, this is the kind of destination that delivers far more than a typical hotel stay.

The Kind of Place You Return to Year After Year

What makes this beach club so special isn’t just its location — it’s the feeling.

It’s the ease of waking up with nowhere to rush.
It’s the comfort of knowing your kids can roam safely.
It’s the rhythm of days that unfold naturally, without overplanning.

Many families don’t just visit once — they come back every spring, letting their children grow up with the same familiar pathways, routines, and traditions.

A Childhood That Feels Like Freedom

If you’re craving a trip where your kids can truly be kids, this is it.

At the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, the experience is simple in the best way:

  • Running barefoot across the grounds

  • Grabbing an afternoon pineapple ice cream

  • Picking up a tennis racket for a spontaneous match

  • Spending hours boogie boarding in the gentle waves

There’s no need to entertain them — the environment does that on its own.

The Charm of “Old School” Done Right

In a world of overly polished resorts, the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club
stands apart by staying true to what works.

  • Private cottages instead of crowded hotel towers

  • Classic tennis courts framed by palm trees

  • Wide open beachfront that never feels overcrowded

It’s understated, relaxed, and refreshingly unpretentious.

And that’s exactly why families love it.

More Than a Vacation — A Tradition in the Making

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club isn’t just a place you book.

It’s a place you return to.

Because once your family experiences:

  • the freedom

  • the simplicity

  • the connection

…it becomes something you want to recreate again and again.

And over time, what starts as a spring getaway quietly
becomes a tradition your children will one day remember —
and maybe even continue with their own families.
